Look into my Eyes

"Look me in the eye", says the director during a random encounter with an audience member at the Horst Mahler trial in Germany, a trial in which he is being prosecuted for publishing anti-Semitic material. Fascinating human situations form the motive for this unique international voyage which seeks to reveal the Jewish image in today's western world. The film is a journey that begins with a 350-year-old mass procession in Poland every "Good Friday," a church congregation in Chicago that loves Israel, a remote farm in West Virginia that distributes Nazi material online, French comedian Diodona who criticizes Israel in his stand-up comedy, and ends in a German courthouse where people who currently distribute anti-Semitic material are put on trial.

Drama and humor, interiors and exteriors, trendsetters and mobs, image and imagination, all these result in the fusion of diverse cultures and different worlds into one film. Pulling back one layer of the past reveals that stereotypes do not alter with geographical distance and evokes a vast range of sentiments and feelings pertaining to the Jewish stereotype here and now.
